The ingredients for a perfect Cream Tea

Cream Tea – next to High Tea – is probably the most British and „substantial“ way of spending the afternoon:

One or more scones are served in addition to a pot of tea (preferably Earl Grey with its fine bergamot aroma). The British way to do it is as follows: Cut the scone in half with a knife and spread the top and bottom with plenty of clotted cream (very high in calories) – as thick as your finger if you like but whatever suits your personal tastes. On top of that spread a generous layer of jam which is usually strawberry or raspberry flavoured.

A little tip for you: don’t eat them too often if you want to stay slim!

It’s also very important to note that the tradition of 5 o’clock tea time is not in a tea room! Most tea rooms close at this time and anyone who arrives then will rarely have a good time. Therefore, please take a seat in the tea room at 4 pm at the latest if you want to enjoy this experience.

A classical Cream Tea: Two scones (here plain ones without raisins) and tons of clotted cream and jam in the little bowls. It is accompanied by a good tea and always with fresh milk.

As large as the portion of clotted cream may be - nothing shall be left behind!
