Montacute in Somerset

Montacute is a small village in the south-west corner of Somerset. The buildings are constructed in local stone („Hamstone“) and therefore have a characteristic almost honey-golden colour as well as a certain „weathered“ exterior.

The village itself with just over 800 inhabitants is nothing spectacular, although some places are quite nice such as the church of St. Catherine and the village centre square with its pretty houses.
Montacute is known for “Montacute House”, which was once owned by the Phelips family and now belongs to the National Trust.
