Dunster in Somerset

Dunster is a village with around 800 inhabitants on the northwestern edge of Exmoor near the town of Minehead. It has retained its great charm despite having to struggle with traffic (which is partly two-way traffic controlled by traffic lights.) The main street is dominated by its beautiful Yarn Market and Dunster Castle, which belongs to the National Trust, towers over the village.

It is worth taking a leisurely stroll through the village and discovering its small quiet corners such as the gardens around the church or the ancient stone bridge on the outskirts of the village. Caution: In peak season, this place is quite crowded with tourists – but in the evening it is usually pleasant again.

What’s more is that you can go to the local National Park Visitor Centre which is first choice for first-class information about Exmoor and all its range of excursions!
