Roundabouts are common in the south of England. However, not quite so common is a very special roundabout in Swindon in the county of Wiltshire: This consists of five roundabouts next to each other in the shape of a pentagon. We can see this graphically and it is clearer to understand than on the original street sign above:
The special feature of this roundabout is that, on the one hand, you can go around it on the outside and pass through five individual roundabouts, but at the same time you can always shorten it and, if necessary, join the road again in the inner ring in the opposite direction.
This sounds very complicated in theory, but with a little experience it is ideal to get to your desired exit as quickly as possible.
We drove through the Magic Roundabout twice for sheer pleasure and recorded the whole thing on video. Have fun when doing it!
